The White Rose
University Consortium, a partnership between the Universities of Leeds, Sheffield and York, is undertaking a
project to better understand how researchers experience returning to work after parental leave, and to identify
practical, low- or no-cost ways support can be improved across the three partner universities.
This project focuses on researchers who are employees of Leeds, Sheffield or York,
including postdoctoral researchers and academic staff. Parental leave refers to maternity, paternity, parental, or
adoption leave involving an absence of more than six months. Researchers are eligible if they are
currently returning from parental leave or have returned within the last three years, as well as those who
have supported a researcher’s return.
